PREVIOUS NATIONAL TRUST CAMPAIGNS & COMPETITORS
As my client from for this unit is National Trust and I have to create four posters for a campaign for them I wanted to look at some of there previous campaigns to see what kinda of images have worked for them in the past and how they would like to be present to the public through those images.
Previous National Trust Campaigns
From looking at these campaigns I have learned that...
-They often use a similar concept in a lot of there advertising with the national trust logo centre or slightly off centre
-They do however have a range of different media and idea in there campaigns such as illustration as seen above. But also mixed with images having illustration creating some interesting mixed media campaigns, also some graphs like in the Cadbury easter hunt campaign in 2017
-The Other advertising campaigns for national trust often included very romantic and beautiful location that work very well as they want to sell to you to visit these places.
-In there promotional material they Also often use families and pet which makes a lot of sense due to one of there biggest audiences being younger families. So making ads advertising to them is key.
National Trust Video Campaign
I looked at this video campaign national trust done last year again during the covid lockdown/restrictions which works very well as its a very caring and different ad then you'd normally see on tv or social media as it has no sound apart from nature which really relaxes and clam you down which is the goal of the campaign. It also has a very beautiful sunset and location In the video which Gaian makes you want to visit the location after or when you can during this pandemic affectively selling the location to you.
National Trust Social Media
I also looked at there social media as due to covid restriction we won't see many of the out of home advertising like we would before but also a lot of the Time we as a society check social media for updates on locations and opening time etc.
However this Also another reason to look at social media as when doing my research on national trust I found they want to reach a target audience of 20-30 year old which makes sense to use social media as that audience are also key users of social media. Making there use of social media very effective to catch this target audience
I also found the use of looking at there social media was effective for me as it give me a lot of inspiration of what kind locations they have and other actives they offer at this time during covid restrictions. Which allowed me to gain inspiration as what they want to show off right now too which meets my own idea.
Other Competitors Campaigns
I decided to also look at national trust competitors campaigns to see how they advertise there location and how it differs to national trust. I think the're are many similarities in the way they advertise the're location as many included beautiful landscapes and how the're target audience fits into it are also included within the campaign to sell it to this audience. However I think national trust do this better as there brand has much more of an identity.
I think this research was very helpful for me as it allowed me to see what kind of image national trust use to promote themselves and how they want to be represented through those images. Also looking at the social media helped inspire me on how to shoot my own images for this campaign. But also looking at the competitors of national trust to see how they shoot they're campaigns too.
